In a progressive country like the United States, the people are more inclined to partying, using different gadgets and hanging out in places where there are a lot of technological advancements. In other words, there are only a few people now who take the time to go out and enjoy nature such as going to national parks.

Due to the rapid advancement of technology in the country, people seem to have forgotten to live a simple life. As seen in the movie Grown Ups, the parents brought their children to a national park to enjoy nature. It’s time that people get to know the different national parks they could spend time in one of these days.

Arches National Park

As its name suggests, you can expect to see arches formed from different rock formations at Arches National Park in southeastern Utah. Someone who wants to feel the real power of wind and water will surely love this national park.

The park is home to more than 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, and many other unusual rock formations. These unusual rock formations are what bring people to Arches National Park. Some areas of the park have been exposed to the forces of nature creating a unique landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures that make it seem out of this world.

Yosemite National Park

One of the more iconic parks in the country is Yosemite National Park. A park haven filled with natural beauty such as its countless waterfalls, valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness and so much more, it would be no wonder why people flock to this national park every year filling out almost every inch of the whole 1,200 square miles where it stands.

Due to massive amounts of crowds during the peak season of May-June, the National Park Service strongly encourages the people to take the free shuttle bus system instead of bringing along their own cars. The best time to visit Yosemite National Park to see the waterfalls is during spring when most of the snowmelt occurs.

Grand Canyon National Park

The Grand Canyon National park is probably the most renowned national park in the whole world. Although it lacks the greenery that national parks usually would have, it is estimated that roughly five million people come out to gaze out at the beauty of the Grand Canyon.

This Arizona park includes millions of acres of land and has two very different personalities. Most people only notice the South Rim which is the most accessible part of the park that is open all year. What the public do not take much notice of is the North Rim which is 10 miles away from the South Rim. It is 1,000 feet higher and typically inaccessible from around October to mid-May due to the heavy snows. Also, the North Rim is much more remote.

There are different ways to get to and from both rims. One way is to drive between the rims for 220 miles instead of the 10-mile distance through air. Another way would be hiking from rim to rim which would typically take two to three days. Some could take a rafting trip down the Colorado which would take about two weeks or longer. It is certainly different from any national park in Canada.

The Grand Canyon may be the most famous canyon in the whole world, but it isn’t the deepest. Barranca del Cobre in northern Mexico and Hell’s Canyon in Idaho are both deeper than the Grand Canyon, and that’s just two examples. However, may it be the deepest or not, the Grand Canyon still is the world’s most famous canyon and national park in the world.

Yellowstone National Park

America’s first national park is Yellowstone National Park. It was established in 1872 and is located in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho and is the home of a large variety of wildlife which includes grizzly bears, wolves, bisons and elks.

What gathers the crowds to visit Yellowstone National Park are not just its breathtaking sight, but also its geysers and hot springs. One of the most famous geysers called the Old Faithful could be found here. Now it is no wonder why this national park is among the top three best and most visited national parks in the United States, or maybe even in the whole world.

There is practically more to see in Yellowstone National Park. Aside from the Old Faithful, the Mammoth Hot Springs and its very own “Grand Canyon” is also an eye-catching sight when in this particular national park.

Nature has a lot to offer to people. Among which is the breath of fresh air that we surely will miss when we stay too long in the city, but most importantly is the ability to see that our world is indeed a beautiful place to live in.
